How can we help? 👋

How do I track or report redemptions?

Instructions for logging how many members redeemed discounts (manually or by POS).

During the pilot, participating businesses are asked to track how many credit union members redeem their discounts — either manually or through your existing point-of-sale (POS) system.

This helps us measure program impact and improve future versions of the Community Marketplace.

Why It Matters

  • It helps us understand how many members are engaging with your business.
  • It gives the credit union valuable insight into how local spending is being redirected through the pilot.
  • It ensures small businesses like yours get the recognition and support you deserve.

Option 1: Manual Tracking

If your POS does not allow you to flag transactions easily, you can track redemptions manually.

We recommend one of the following:

  • Use a simple tally sheet or notebook behind the register.
  • Add a column to your daily closing sheet labeled “Credit Union Redemptions.”
  • Keep a shared spreadsheet if multiple staff members need to record transactions.

At the end of each week or month, record the total number of redemptions.

Option 2: Tracking Through Your POS

If your POS system allows, you can:

  • Create a custom discount button labeled “[Your credit union] Member Discount” and run a report on how many times it’s used.
  • Use a discount code (e.g. "CREDITUNION10") that applies the member offer and automatically tracks usage.
  • If you already use tags or modifiers for other campaigns, use one for this program.

Be sure to train your staff to apply the tag or discount properly for each eligible customer.

Submitting Redemption Totals

You do not need to report redemptions daily.

Toward the end of the pilot, you’ll receive a short survey asking for:

  • Total number of redemptions
  • Any observations from staff or customers
  • Optional feedback on how the program went

We’ll make this as quick and lightweight as possible.
